Arrival on Taveuni
After a smooth 11-hour flight from LA to Nadi, Fiji we got through customs and made our connecting flight to Taveuni. That flight was on a plane that carried 18 passengers but there were only ten of us for the morning flight. It was very smooth.
They weighed each of us for the flight on the tiny plane. 😂
We hardly could have imagined what today would hold. After arriving on Taveuni we met the family we are staying with. We took a nap, took a walk, and spent some time singing and talking about roosters and Fijian culture with Nita, the son. Later in the day I helped Nita harvest and plant taro and cassava — you know we often take the road less traveled.
Before dinner we went with Nita to meet the Elder-Chief of the village and drink kava — it’s traditional to do so when visiting a Fijian village. He then gave us a welcome to roam freely in the village.
Sia, Nita’s mom, prepared dinner for us which was amazing.
Chief Wani, Nita, and us.
We turned in fairly early. It was quit a day.
